Guji valley is a small region in Sudamo, a district in southwest Ethiopia. The region has a history of producing excellent coffee and this coffee is an excellent display of what is possible with good farming. This coffee comes from OCR β Operation Cherry Red. Quite simply it is the picking of only the perfectly ripe or βredβ cherries. This means significantly more work for the farmers but yields far superior cup quality.
Heirloom varietals in Ethiopia number over 1,000 and are closest to the Typica varietal. This diversity gives explanation to why such unique and desired flavours are produced and also why different regions can produce such a wide array of flavour profiles.
This coffee is sweet and complex, with blackberry & dark chocolate notes.
